Skill Building Groups

Skill building groups offer a unique opportunity for children to come together in a supportive environment, fostering growth and understanding while still having fun. They provide a safe space to share experiences, learn from one another, and develop coping strategies in a collaborative setting.

This 8 session group teaches self-regulation skills using Zones of Regulation. Children will practice applying regulation skills through activities and games with peers.

 

This 6 week small group targets social communication and pragmatic language skills including:

  • Conversation skills (initiating, maintaining, repair strategies)

  • Understanding social cues (body language, tone, facial expressions, humor)

  • Perspective-taking and flexible thinking

  • Size of the problem vs. reaction size

  • Social problem-solving and solutions

  • Self-advocacy and confidence in peer interactions

Sessions will include guided discussions, role-playing, real-life scenarios, games, and peer interaction, with an emphasis on building confidence, independence, and functional communication skills that carry over to school, friendships, and everyday life.

This 8 week girls group will help girls build self- esteem and confidence. Girls will learn friendship making skills and recognizing and responding to relational aggression. Positive psychology and social problem solving will be used throughout the group.
